From Milano’s Malpensa Airport

  • Leaving the airport, follow the green A4 TORINO (or A4 TORINO-MILANO) signs. Green signs are for autostrade.
  • You will enter a divided highway: ss336/ss336dir.
  • Follow the green A4 signs for direction to TORINO; you will enter it at the Marcallo-Mesero entrance
  • Stop at the toll booth. Stare at the machinery: there are no instructions!! When bored, press the large red "panic" button and feign amazement when it spits out a toll ticket.
  • Take the direction of TORINO.
  • Take care when entering the Autostrada because the entrance is short and you are merging with fast-moving traffic. Select a low gear and floor the accelerator!
  • You will be on the Autostrada for 49 km.
  • A recommended stop for coffee, hydration, or a snack is the roadside stop Autogrill, which you run into after 15.6 km. Follow the signs "Area servizio Novara nord".
  • Exit at Carisio, which is at kilometer marker 54.4. Uscita is the italian word for exit.
  • Pick a staffed toll lane (avoid the Telepass ones) and give your toll ticket to the attendant; you can pay the toll of with a credit card (recommended).

From Carisio exit to Biella (hotel Agorà)

  • Follow the blue signs for BIELLA. At the exit of the autostrada, take a right.
  • After 1km, at the first light, take a left on ss230.
  • You will be in Biella in 17 km.
  • At a big ugly roundabout with center "art" of multiple bright non-matching colors, you’ve entered Biella (see map below). Follow the signs for CENTRO (Centro (•)) town center and go straight.
  • At the next roundabout, keep going straight, following signs for CENTRO.
  • At the third roundabout, keep going straight, following signs for CENTRO.
  • Four blocks later, following the signs for CENTRO, you will be taking a left into via Bengasi.
  • At the third light take a right into via Torino.
  • Take the first left; you will be in via Lorenzo Delleani.
  • The entrance to the hotel’s parking garage is very well signposted and will be on your right at number 8 just after the up ramp from an underground public parking; ring the bell and they will open the entrance for you.

From Torino’s Caselle Airport

  • Leaving the airport, follow the green "Autostrade" or "A4 MILANO" signs.
  • You will find a "barriera" where you must pay a toll of about €1; pick a staffed lane (avoid the Telepass ones). You can pay the toll with a credit card (recommended).
  • Make sure you keep following the "A4 MILANO" signs.
  • You will find another "barriera". Avoid the Telepass lanes, and stop at the toll booth. Stare at the machinery: there are no instructions!! When bored, press the large red "panic" button and feign amazement when it spits out a toll ticket.
  • Exit at Carisio, which is at kilometer marker 54.4. Uscita is the italian word for exit.
  • Pick a staffed toll lane (avoid the Telepass ones) and give your toll ticket to the attendant; you can pay the toll of €2.90 with a credit card (recommended)..
  • Follow the instructions "from Carisio exit to Biella" above.
